HCPC-regulated professionals
Including physiotherapists, practitioner psychologists, occupational therapists, paramedics, radiographers, biomedical scientists, speech and language therapists and other HCPC registrants.
Confidential, psychologically informed support for healthcare professionals navigating complaints, investigations, fitness-to-practise processes, restrictions or the uncertainty that can surround them.
Investigations can affect sleep, concentration, confidence, relationships, professional identity and the ability to think clearly. Support gives you a confidential place to process that impact while remaining grounded in the realities of professional practice.
This service is open to clinicians and healthcare professionals at any stage of a professional complaint or investigation.
Including physiotherapists, practitioner psychologists, occupational therapists, paramedics, radiographers, biomedical scientists, speech and language therapists and other HCPC registrants.
Support is also available to professionals facing GMC, GDC, NMC, GPhC, Social Work England or other regulatory and employer-led processes.
You do not need to wait until a hearing or formal decision. Support can begin when a complaint first arrives and continue through uncertainty, remediation, return to work or rebuilding confidence afterwards.
Being investigated can create a powerful mix of fear, anger, shame, uncertainty and hypervigilance. It can also make ordinary professional tasks feel loaded with risk. The work is not about telling you what to say to a regulator. It is about helping you remain psychologically steady enough to make thoughtful decisions and continue functioning.
Focused Care Psychology provides psychological support. We do not act as your solicitor, union representative, defence organisation or regulatory advocate, and this service is not legal advice.
If your matter requires legal or medico-legal advice, you should continue to use an appropriately qualified lawyer, defence organisation, union or professional body alongside psychological support.
Clinicians are used to being the person who contains uncertainty for others. When a complaint or investigation reverses that role, it can be unusually isolating. Colleagues may not know what to say, family may struggle to understand the professional stakes, and legal conversations can understandably focus on evidence and procedure rather than what the experience is doing to you.
Our aim is to provide a calm, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly, understand your reactions, preserve perspective and make room for life outside the investigation. The work can be brief and focused or continue for longer where the process is prolonged.
One-to-one clinician support is £110 per session.
This is a psychological support service, not legal representation, regulatory advocacy or an emergency service. Confidentiality and its usual professional/legal limits are discussed before support begins.
